About Me

My photo
I have recovered from the disease of Alcoholism. I believe there is only one person really,.. everybody. And that peace of mind is everything. -So treat your neighbor as you would treat yourself, because your neighbor IS yourself. I think most of recovery is what I would call common sense, but that learning to be ordinary is a true gift very few people acquire. My ambition is to accept everything unflinchingly, with compassion, and therefore be intrinsically comfortable in my own skin, no matter what. I am comfortable being uncomfortable and am willing to go to any lengths to improve my life. I believe the Big Book was divinely inspired, and is extraordinarily powerful. Unfortunately AA's best kept secret a lot of the time. (In my opinion). I just try to do what works, no matter what it is.

Things are never as bad or as good as you think!

"Things are never as bad or as good as you think!"

Someone told me this and I REALLY like it, so I thought I would share it with you.
Its very cool. Looks like nothing at first glance, but it IS .. true.
Cool. I had never noticed this until someone pointed it out to me. I LOVE it when i find some piece of new information..

Hope you are having a lovely Thursday wherever you are. I'm knee deep in study books. Till at least ? June. Ah well. Wish me luck! I still lack discipline (having lost my capacity for desperation a LONG time ago), but I am doing my ! lousy best I suppose. Confidence is not great, but I am just showing up and seeing what happens. It aint a walk in the park, thats for sure!

Hot tip. Healthy snack food. Marks and Spencers do these shredded raw veg in microwaveable containers for two quid or something. They cook in 2 minutes and basically it is just shredded vegetables. but they taste ! LOVELY. (Yeah I know, WEIRD) GREAT snack food for when you are at work or cant be BOTHERED to cook something 'healthy'. Like a SERIOUSLY healthy version of a Pot noodle. How cool is that! Plus it doesn't make you fat! Which is nice. :) Whatever. Right i'd better be off!

with me something is either great or terrible. and for a while now, i've consciously tried to place it in the middle somewhere, and guess what? mostly it fits... so yes! great line!!!

I wonder sometimes whether life IS a walk in the park for some people as far as achieving goals. People make it look effortless. I suppose they have to put in as much effort but they don't contemplate how much of an effort it is... if that makes sense. "Things are never as bad or as good as you think!" is a good impartial statement to help me get on with it. Vegies are good for the brain.

I have lost the "publish or perish" mentality at work. I think that I just have a different attitude--much less driven and more laid back. I've never been that way before. Now, it's hard for me to be motivated. Strange....

Things are often better than I think aswell. I can fall into not being able to see the truth, and err on caution or towards bad "just incase"

either way looking at the facts, hearing others perception and not listening to "my ideas" is at times the way forward. Not always though.

Veggie's yeh good idea, I find the sainburys and others do the same in a bag, the bag puffs up and steams the food in 2 mins. Now thats magic! Really good. Though not organic ha!

Have a productively good weekend!!

Hello sober and Irish
I love your site. I'm sober in Laguna Beach, CA. And your site got me to thinking about starting my own sobriety related site. I copied your Six Things to Do Every Day and Quotes from the Big Book to put up on that, as yet, unstarted site. I'm assuming the copying is OK with you. If not OK just leave a message here and I will desist. THANKS
