About Me

My photo
I have recovered from the disease of Alcoholism. I believe there is only one person really,.. everybody. And that peace of mind is everything. -So treat your neighbor as you would treat yourself, because your neighbor IS yourself. I think most of recovery is what I would call common sense, but that learning to be ordinary is a true gift very few people acquire. My ambition is to accept everything unflinchingly, with compassion, and therefore be intrinsically comfortable in my own skin, no matter what. I am comfortable being uncomfortable and am willing to go to any lengths to improve my life. I believe the Big Book was divinely inspired, and is extraordinarily powerful. Unfortunately AA's best kept secret a lot of the time. (In my opinion). I just try to do what works, no matter what it is.

Easy Does it: Wear life like a loose garment, not a hair shirt!

I LOVE these Malibu ads as they really communicate the 'There are NO big deals' mindset VERY clearly. This one is about trying to get into a club.
Our lives REALLY DO depend on us really learning not to take things too seriously. If you value your life or your sanity I suggest you learn how to practice 'Easy Does It' in ALL your affairs. It is VERY important!
People sometimes overlook the slogans, but they are a VITAL part of the programme.

I've never worn a hair shirt but I've flogged myself a few times. I agree that life is too short to be taken seriously

I got a dose of this when I went to Chicago in March. Mitch's friends were soooooo funny, goofy and how I laughed so much. To me they did not take themselves seriously, shedding humor onto self and everything. I want to be like that, I still am wrapped so TIGHT. I want to breath and allow self to become unraveled. I know it will happen, not on my timeline however (I would have this completed by yesterday if so).

So easy does do it! One day at a time.
